Another amazing day on Dominica!

We reached out to SeaCat to plan another day of touring from Roseau, Dominica. We told him we wanted to do another hike but something a little less challenging.  We were still a little sore from the intense day of hiking waterfalls that we did the first day we hiked with SeaCat. We told him we'd also like a massage and to hang out at the thermal hot springs that the area is known for. Well, SeaCat delivered again! What a special day! See pics below for more info...

As we drove higher and higher, we experienced a lovely drop in temperature, perfect to get us in the mood to hike! The views from this hike were just spectacular! This hike was called Freshwater Lake and we were climbing on a ridge sandwiched between views of the Atlantic and views of the freshwater lake below. The trail was beautifully maintained with an incredible number of log steps built into the hillside. These were made the path enticing and scenic, even when we were climbing steep inclines.

It was great that they included a rope handrail which we used to haul ourselves up on at times due to the steepness of the steps and the trail.

A view looking back at some of the trail we had climbed. It's hard to show how steep it actually was.

Yes, being near the top felt like quite an accomplishment!

Great views at the top!

Below are pics of our wonderful massage with therapist Nerissa at her lovely home! She really puts her heart and soul into her work. She has beautiful energy.

Really cool upside down hibiscus in Nerissa's garden

Onto lunch at Froggy's at his unique and special home that he's been building himself since the major hurricane Maria that rocked Dominica in 2017. He's been using reclaimed materials and processing logs into boards to use in his construction. His has killer views and makes an incredible callaloo soup which is the national dish of Dominica. The soup is traditionally made with a combination of leafy vegetables such as dasheen (taro) or spinach, coconut milk, yams, onions, peppers, green bananas. The soup was thick and hearty and made for a delicious homemade lunch!

He had adorable, friendly cats everwhere!

The chef presents his creation!

It was a steep, but thankfully short walk to the hot springs.

I'm always happy in hot water!!! I think baths are the thing I miss most about living on land.

Enjoying the hot springs together!

We had a wonderful and magical day meeting and patronizing local businesses that SeaCat was happy to share with us. The guy literally knows everyone on the island so you're guaranteed a warm welcome with a wrap on the knuckles with everyone you meet when you hang out with this guy! We experienced Dominica as incredibly friendly and safe with locals that are anxious to meet you and have you share in the amazing bounty that is their nature isle! To cap off our wonderful day, SeaCat and his lovely daughter Chelsea had pizza dinner aboard Solmate so we could spend a little more time together before our departure for Martinique the next morning ❤
